TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in
relation to increasing penalties and requiring imprisonment for
leaving the scene of an incident without reporting
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : To establish greater penalties for
traffic law violation in accordance with leaving the scene of an
incident without reporting or providing relevant identification
information. In addition, provide a section to recognize leaving the
scene of an incident without reporting after consuming an alcoholic
beverage or drug.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS :
Amendment of Section 600 of the vehicle and traffic law; Addition of
section 600-a; Amendment of Section 602 of the vehicle and traffic
law.
JUSTIFICATION : The purpose of this bill is to further deter any
person from violating the regulations of conduct required of them as a
licensed driver. |
